Heparin and Warfarin Mnemonic

This is a visual mnemonic and shows how to remember the use of PT and PTT for the monitoring Warfarin and Heparin, and which one is used for the monitoring the extrinsing or intrinsic pathway. I just want to mention, that before using the mnemonics, you have to go trough the text and lecture material very thoroughly. Mnemonics are just the final little touch. They are useful when you don’t have enough time to think and when you need to go trough few step process. They show you directly the answer by making shortcuts, but again: read, understand, remember the material and than, if you need some help, use some mnemonics, just to secure yourself in difficult situations.
