I really recommend you to use the questions and explanations on this site http://www.canadamcc.com -

Dear madam/sir:
I hope you are well,Iam postgraduate doctor & I wish to prepair for MCCEE but please can you inform me about the most important references & any topics that help me to pass this examination.
Hi,
I highly recommend starting with Ultimate Review books for mccee and for mccqe1. They give you free questions to download and using those will give you a good start.
you can find them on http://www.mcceereview.com and http://www.mccqe1.com
@lola: Well, you probably know how difficult close to impossible is to work as a doctor in Canada if you are an IMG. There is a chance if you go to Canada as a fellow (you need to have a specialty from your country), work for 1-2 years, they like you very much, and give you an opportunity to stay as a staff, even without taking any of the MCC exams. This is possible but the chance is very slim. Way more opportunities if you pass all the USMLE exams and apply for US residency program. They say that after the new health care bill kicks in, there will be a high demand for any medical professionals in US.
hello, im a resident Doctor in Nigeria and i intend to write the MCCEE. Does anyone know how i can get the required textbooks and the chances of actually working when im qualified. thank you
Hi, I am a IMG from Colombia South America, in the process to emigrate as a skilled worker. All the information I receive from blogs, forum, people is that is almost impossible to work as a doctor in Canada. If it is true, so, why is the reason for this country to stimulate inmigration of doctors, if they don`t want doctors practice medicine in Canada?. I understand that we must pass all the tests, but it is not clear why don`t help to IMG to integrate to work.
I woould not like to arrive to Canada and have to work as a taxi driver or something else, while in our countries we practice medicine.
So, what is the importance of permanent resident status if we can not work in medicine?
The federal government has all the intention to bring medical professionals to Canada with the intention of working. The problem is that the provincial authorities that issue your license are not in any way subject to federal policy, so, even though there is a high demand for physicians currently, the provincial authorities control who does and does not get a licence.
The concept of Canada being a unit and sharing policy is wrong, every province has it’s own body to control the medical practice.
I did MBBS long time ago.I am registered with Pakistan medical council(PMDC).I am a Canadian citizen.I have done a full time job as a Medical Information specialist in a Toronto hospital, recently for over three years..Currently doing M.Sc in Dermatology in a university in UK. I have not done any residency in Canada/UK .Last residency was in Pakistan .I also did M.Sc( Community Health)in 1997 from Newyork Univesity,USA.
I am planning to write MCCEE exam within next six months.
Kindly let me know what should I do on returning to Canada in a few months with M.Sc(Dermatology) degree in hand.
Will appreciate any nice advise from all friends in this forum

i m an img from india i surfed mccee site so many times its not clear to me what i should do to get family medicine in canada where to get my indian degree verified can i get after clearing mccee or mccee1 what books i have to consult can somebody plz help me
The best thing is to start with writing your mccee and mccqe1. It’s important for foreign medical grads to have these exams done first. You have to register first online with the Medical council of Canada and Carms.
hello,
i’m a img from india wanted to appear for mccee and others.but which books shud i follow?and is there any chance of getting the chance of woring there after i do my residency and clear the mccee?which documents shud i be taking with me verified before i move out of india?
There is a book on the ultimate review website called IMG’s guide to CaRMs, and IMG’s Guide to PCRC. Those books take you step by step through the online application process.
If by “coaching center” you mean a tutoring or learning center, then really the only one in Toronto or GTA are the Kaplan centers. However, from personal experience, the people at kaplan try to sell you their books and programs (average $2000). For mccee there are a couple of study guides you can try. Many people use Ottawa Notes which also has evaluating exams and gives a free copy of toronto-notes as well. The other is ultimate review books and their question books. Good question banks to use online would be usmle world or the kaplan question banks for step2. I wouldn’t recommend canada qbank because their questions are not difficult enough and they don’t have enough detail in their explanations.
Best of luck.
New Audio lectures for MCCEE are available with the Ultimate Review books. Over 20 hours of lecture material and good explanations and tips for exam questions. http://www.mcceereview.com
Hi! Im a pediatric infectious disease specialist in the Philippines. Our visa for migration has been approved. How is my chance of working in Winnepeg as specialist? Do I start all over again? How do I start? Thanks!
you need to start by registering for the first canadian board exam (MCCEE). You also need to register with the MCC and PCRC online. I used two books to help me with this process because it can be very confusing and can delay your process if not done right. The books are:
IMGs Guide to PCRC and IMGs Guide to CaRMS. You can get both books at mcceereview.com.
You need to start by applying for the mccee first. Then you can apply for residency after that. Make sure you get a good score. Good review materials include ultimate review books, ottawa notes, and usmle world questions.
Hey!
I am a fourth year MBBS student in Pakistan. I would want to know when can I give it earliest? Do I have to have a degree to apply for it? What would be the best book to prepare for it?
I’d be really thankful if someone can give me a detailed reply to the what’s and how’s.
Thanks.
i need to know what are the chances of an img with 2 months canadian clinical experience and 3 LOR and a high score in exams…..will it still be hard to match ?

hello, I’d like to know how I can get the ultimate review books, Ottawa notes and the best qbank to use. Also, what do I need as an img besides mccee to practice in Canada.can I get locum job easily and the requirement. Thanks
Toronto Notes is too much information for mccee.. you should either stick to ultimate review books.. or if you want to do a more thorough review you should use ottawa notes instead (especially with their audio lectures). ottawanotes dotcomm and mcceereview dottcomm.
Hi everyone,
can anyone tell me whether there is exemption from mccee after passing usmle part 1 how will i kw.
I also would like to kw whether high score in canadian exams matters in getting
residency.if so which exam is having highest weightage – i understand there are 3 parts. Apart from score are there other factors influencing to get into residency.
It appears that canadian exams are tougher than its counterpart usa exams.
Well, connections always help, even more than good scores. You need to find an observership or research and get to know more people that can recommend you.
Canada is a good place to live if you are a pizza pizza driver or painter, but if you want to be a physician is a different story.
Thank u very much for ur advice,to me its daunting thinking about canadian exams.
Do you think i better prepare for usmle.
After clearing canadian exams, is everyone getting residency.
Is getting observership easy in canada,hw long one need to do to get recommendation letter.
I happened to find this forum by chance while looking for free mcqs for mccee. I did my mbbs long time back and am in the process of canada immigration. I started going through toronto notes few wks back for mccee. How are ottawa notes different from toronto notes? How many volumes of ultimate review books are there? Are these mcqs?
Reading about how difficult it is to practice in canada, even after passing required exams has put me into depression…:(
I thought I’d share some personal experience to help you get started. First of all, don’t get discouraged by what people say.. if you really want to pursue medicine there’s no harm in trying, and many people have been successful. Firstly, you need to register with the MCC (medical council of Canda). You also then need to prepare for and write your medical board exams, the MCCEE and MCCQE1.
Getting the right study materials can be tricky and that’s where most students get confused. Here’s my personal recommendations based on what I’ve used and succeeded with. If you have 3 months or more, then I strongly recommend using the ottawa notes because it also has good audio lectures and comes with a lot of good information from basic to advanced. They also give you over 1000 questions with explanations so you don’t have to invest in question banks. The sections on Canadian health law and ethics is important in the exam and the usmle books don’t cover that.
If you have less than 3 months to study, then I would recommend using ultimate review because it’s a more focused review. They also carry some good material on how to apply for CaRMS and PCRC (other registration you need to do for licensing). Make sure to do as many questions as possible.. both sources have very good questions that have similar level of difficulty as the exam.
If you want to do online question banks, then you should use either Kaplan Step 2 or USMLE world question banks. I would avoid canada q bank because their questions are not properly explained and people have reported errors as well. Also the difficulty level is not that high in those questions. With any of these question banks you should try to score 85% or higher to do well on the actual exam.
Hi Umer,
First of all thanks for reply , i found it Very encouraging and kind.
I have some queries, hope you can throw some light on them as well. First of all, i have not yet registered with pcrc, though i have opened my account but havent paid them or sent the svr. I am through with my medical and if everything goes as expected , i should have the visa by coming summers. Do you think i should go ahead with registration process, and get the test authorisation no from mcc , even though i might not be able to appear for mccee in pakistan, or should i wait for the passport request and for the immigration process to move further ahead ?
Another thing, i have started preparing for mccee with the help of toronto notes as per everyones recommendation who had successfully appeared for exams and it was the first time time that i heard of ottawa notes on this site. I do have usmle world and am enjoying doing mcqs from there, plus i also have the ultimate review series and canada q bank, both of which i find relatively much much easier than usmle world. What do you say? For canada legal aspects of medicine, i guess toronto notes would be enough, am i right?
Hope you’re doing good. I am also preparing for MCCEE exam. I was wondering that if it’s possible , we can exchange study materials and questions via email , phone ,skype etc.
I am preparing for the exam alone so at times it gets difficult for me to remain focused and motivated, so I was wondering this way we could set up targets and study and exchange materials which I feel will help both of us .
Please let me know if you are comfortable with the above .
Sure Sadaf, why not, i mean i have been looking around for some study partner for quite some time now. Are you already in Canada and have you registered with pcrc and mcc ?
We can skype and disscuss. Get in touch…
Well yeah ..!! Sure why not…=) Well …as your title says “anonymous”… I would like to start with having your name. My Skype I.D is ” Sadaf.Kizlibash” . Would like to have your name ..in order to add you up….
I am ambreen, didnt know have to fill in name with every reply, or it would appear as “anonymous”, . Anyhow, we can start our disscussions soon, and thanks for your skype id. Mine is ambreen.salman52. Is yours sadaf.kizlibash or is it kizilbash? And u didnt reply of u are in Canada or any place else?
It’s “Sadaf.Kizilbash” .Let me try adding you up. I am currently in Karachi Pakistan ….will be flying back to Canada next month. Let me know if you’re in Karachi …because it’ll be awesome.
Thats great, I am a resident of karachi, and it would be really useful if we meet sometime before u fly back to Canada. I am planning to fly in 2nd half of june, inshAllah. My net is slow i guess, thats why i havent recieved your skype msg yet. Where are you staying in karachi? I am in Defense phase 6. Plan to meet up…

Hi dr Umar
Can you please guide that which package of Ottawa notes is better ?
Bcoz on their site there are number of options like deluxe and ultra etc..
So it would’ve agreat help if you please guide along
Also I’m planning to give mccee in may this yr,so would Ottawa notes would be enough or should I do toronto notes as well?
Hi Rfa,
When I bought the ottawa notes I bought the ultra package because you get a bigger discount. Also, the audio lectures were really good and easy to understand. Don’t worry about the toronto notes because when you buy the ultra pack they will give you a free copy of toronto notes.

Looking forward to your guidance/comments.
Best regards,
Ambreen
Hey…Ambreen !!
Thank you
Sadaf =)

Thank u dr Umar,
And is Ottawa notes enough for mccee?i have three months to prepare only..so I’m bit worried abt the preparation…
yes, three months is more than enough time. Good luck
hi, I’m Jawaria, an IMG from Pakistan. me in calgary. was doing my fellowship in psychiatry in pakistan..now want to get residency here in canada in psychiatry. need help to know where to start from? i know its really v v v hard to wrk as a doctor in canada if u r n IMG. still wanna try. plz help me.
Hi Jawaria,
Firstly, you need to register with the MCC (medical council of Canda).
Make sure to also get free questions from ottawa notes (they will email you a free diagnostic test if you send them an email from their website) http://www.ottawanotes.com and also from http://www.mcceereview.com. You can also get free questions from http://www.mccqe1.com.
