Schistocytes are fragmented red blood cells, and indicate mechanical damage causing hemolysis. The commonest cause is probably the presence of a mechanical heart valve, particularly when dysfunctional. Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome, Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura, and Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation are other causes.

    I hardly comment, but i did some searching and wound up here Schistocytes aka aka
    aka | USMLEMD. And I do have a few questions for you if it’s allright. Is it just me or does it look like some of the remarks come across like coming from brain dead folks? 😛 And, if you are writing at additional places, I would like to keep up with everything new you have to post.
