Pneumonia is the only cause of death from an infectious disease in the top ten causes in the US. It is the sixth leading cause of death.
- Worldwide TB is one of the top three causes of all deaths. Nearly a quarter of the entire world’s population has been exposed and would be reactive to PPD testing.
- Virtually any food can be contaminated by almost any organism. In reality, the most important thing is not what food you eat but whose dirty hands touched your food and what are they contaminated with.
- Four million people in the US are infected with Hepatitis C. Hepatitis C is the most common disease leading to the need for liver transplantation in the US. There is no postexposure prophylaxis to hepatitis C, and there is no vaccine.
