Men: Get Tested for Breast Cancer

Physicians are encouraging men to be tested for genes that may increase their risk of breast cancer. New research suggests that male relatives of women with BRCA-1 and BRCA-2 genes often don’t realize that they too may carry the genes, putting them at a greater risk of developing male breast cancer, as well as prostate, pancreatic, and skin cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, about 2,030 cases of breast cancer in men are estimated to occur this year.
