When you study always ask yourself Qs

September 9, 2008

When you do questions or study, put yourself in the patient’s shoes, and ask yourself some of the MCQs (most common questions). For example, if the case is related to pear-shaped organisms in the vaginal discharge, vaginal pruritus, and dyspareunia, and the you give Metronidazole, what are the MCQs the pt can ask you:

1. Can we keep having sex?

2. Can I get pregnant?

3. What are the most common (MC) side effects, in other words…what to expect when I take the medication. Can I drink alcohol? Can I eat the same food?

4. How many times per day should I take the meds?

Now, try to answer all that Qs by yourself, and after you answered them check what the correct answers are.

True! Helps also to think of the diseases/conditions as REAL LIFE issues, not just facts to learn for an exam.

@Alberto: True. Some docs are very good with books and tests, but in the real practice have problems.
